About
Living in Canadas North has a lot of bonuses along with the drwback off a vey long off season. On the plus side from 100 feet from my house I can enter the lake and from it paddle to 3 different oceans the closest being the Arctic Ocean and it would take about a month to get there. There are endless lakes and river systems to play on and many have probably never seen a boat. You can trace the steps of the famous explorers or create your own path. There are no access problems here and permits are needed only for the national Park areas.
Ft. Smith on the Slave River offers some of the finest rapids in the world at levels to suit everyones skills. Great Slave lake offers a lifetime of exploration possibilities. a quick filght to Deline and you can paddle the Bear river to the Mackenzie River at Norman Wells, a perfect week end paddle if your in the area.
Of course the largest drawback is the long season of frozen water, which gives us a good x-country ski seaon until it gets to cold. Today is -30C and looks like it will be staying that way for awhile. Lots odf dog mushing and ice fishing, snowmobiles and the like. Life here can be prety exciting between paddling seasons. I planning on taking up squit boating this coming season and this has me very excited. Should you be heding this way,l et me know and if I can help thats what were here for.
