Carbon!
H2O Adventures / McGill Outdoors Club
I love to teach the sport of kayaking as much as I enjoy pursuing it for myself. Working as an instructor for the past couple years has allowed me to improve both my ability to effectively offer instruction to others as well as my improve my own physical capabilities. Thanks to H2O Adventures and the McGill Outdoors Club for allowing me to share my passion with you!
Uganda 2008
Prior coming to McGill University, I spent a month in Uganda volunteering for Soft Power Health.
Here are some photos from the trip:
Paddlers: Craig Ayres and Dave Wortley (Scout)
The Seven Sisters on La Riviere Rouge
I work as a guide / instructor for a company called H2O Adventures on La Riviere Rouge. The following run lies just above where we teach. Hence, this section gets run A LOT!
Paddlers: Cameron Feary, Sara Hunter, Molly McKeon, Marc Bartschat, Matt Hammond, Al Danielski
Habitat 67, Montreal
Special thanks to all those who helped make my first short video possible (Charly Feldman, Matt Stern, Alistair, Aynsley, and friends). It was filmed back at the very beginning of the 2010 paddling season. Habitat is 10 minutes away from school. It has consistent flows and serves as a perfect training ground to learn all the sweet tricks that can be done on a wave. Then drive 10 minutes up stream and go big on Big Joe! Hoping this year I’ll be on bussy, black mass, and inner city strife instead of little, old habitat though. We shall see…
New carbon boat!! Can’t wait to get this guy on the river now that it is outfitted properly. Looking to go big this spring!
Lachine, Montreal
It is rarely possible to get good quality images at Lachine. You are several hundred meters from shore and the only place to stand is a tiny, little rock island in the middle of the river with water continuing to flow over it. In addition, you pretty much have to be a paddler to get there and so not just any photographer can come along and take pictures. However, on two occasions this past summer there were dedicated people taking pictures and sent them to me afterwards.
Tim Simon (raft guide) and I planned to come as close to each other as possible without colliding of course. A near miss… Success! Unfortunately, it was a distraction that caused my donkey flip to go somewhat haywire.
In sequence
This picture was taken right after my paddle broke on Big Joe during the previous ride. I decided one more surf was in store before calling it a day, and since the jet boat was offering a lift back up to the eddy above I could not refuse. Three airscrews, one backstab, and a back pan am before flushing… Just saying!
